Monkey

Date: 1906
Medium: oil on canvas
Location: Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania, PA, USA

In this unusually rich painting by the painter Henri Rousseau , a group of bearded monkeys and a tropical bird appear, their gazes fixed on the viewer, as if something has suddenly disturbed them from their peaceful life and games. In the lower part of the image, an explanation appears between the blades of grass - a bottle falling towards them, from which its contents are poured. Monkeys huddle together in fear, one abandoned in a distant part of the jungle clutches a tree trunk tightly. Both the treatment and the theme are typical of Rousseau's late work. The artist locks the viewer into a dream state with the help of lush vegetation that covers the entire canvas. Rousseau called his paintings with the theme of the jungle, which is often repeated in his late works, "Mexican landscapes", so it has been speculated many times whether together with Napoleon III. and his army in Mexico did not discover. Later, this theory was disproved and the source of his inspiration was discovered - visits to botanical gardens, pictures in children's books and illustrated magazines.

Rousseau painted picture Monkey in 1906. Prevailing color of this fine art print is green and its shape is portrait. This art piece is located in Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania, PA, USA. This image is printed on demand - you can choose material, size and finishing.

Henri Julien Félix Rousseau (1844 - 1910). French Post-Impressionist painter. He learned painting himself (he developed a specific naive style) and eventually became a brilliant artist whose paintings are firmly embedded in art history. For his profession as a customs officer, he is also called Customs (see his self-portrait known as Customs). He never left France, but became known for his paintings Jungle. Contemporaries often mocked him (they reproached him for his children's paintings). Picasso, who by chance saw one of his paintings and appreciated the quality of his work, prepared a banquet in Rousseau’s honour Dream.

Blurry Althought the service was great, the quality of the picture is a bit disappointing: it looks blurry. Maybe it is because of the size I ordered it in, but I think that it could have been signalized or warned about before the printing.

Highly recommend this company! I recently purchased a canvas art print from Craft fine art. The timing and shipping were perfect, however when I received the piece it was darker than I'd expected. I contacted the company and they apologized and had no problem printing out a new image, sending me a photo to approve, then sending it right off to me, and it was perfect! Great communication, really nice people to deal with, and excellent shipping, beautiful work. Looking forward to the next pieces I'm ordering. Many thanks!

Very good experience Requested a painting as gift for one of my siblings. The product is very well and of high-quality, very much appreciated. The package was good while the delivery takes longer due to logistics issues in the country of destination. However, when requested, the shop has kept us posted about the package tracking.

Good quality prints but awkward to hang My two framed prints arrived within a reasonable time. The print quality and the framing is good. My only criticism is that the only means of hanging the print is via a brass "eye" (I don't know the technical term) at the top of the frame on the reverse side. You can put a hook into it, but the hook will be partially visible. I would have preferred that a string be attached to the reverse of the frame to allow hanging.

High quality and Integrity This company I would highly recommend. Their prints are extremely good quality and there is a feeling of integrity and care.. If all companies were like this the world would be a far better place! I would recommend to the customer though having your delivery sent to the carrier depot nearest to you rather than your house, as reviews for the carrier being able to find your house are not always good. It is then guaranteed that you receive your goods.
